Waaah, that might be quiet, but it sure does not look smooth!
5 years agoThese nuns are pretty cool. The one ahead s wearing sneakers, the one behind, slippers. Both have shades. I guess that's all pretty normal. But the one behind might just be also sporting an Apple watch. "Street Coach" is a bike brand I don't know.
5 years agoMy efforts to understand German are often foiled by their practice of running words together. For example, "aufeinander". Is that aufein ander? is it au feinander? Only if you happen to know the word, or if you realize that it is auf ein ander, can you (I) finally surmise that the sign advises pedestrians, bikers, and skaters to watch out for each other. That is, to take care "on each other".
5 years agoGlad you are enjoying Berlin! A fascinating city. We have a granddaughter there and visit often. Hope the weather gets a little more sane! You are doing so well braving the storms, you deserve something better now!
5 years agoYou two are not getting much of a break weather wise. Hope that changes for you soon. Admire your grit, determination and positive attitude.
5 years agoWhat is with the weather this year? We are warm and sunny in Provence for now, but have no confidence it will last. Enjoy Berlin. It is a fantastic city.
5 years agoIt seems the Kleeblatt/clover leaf really did bring you good luck - that and your positive and open approach to things! Glad everything is working out, and I hope the weather improves soon. Happy pedaling - Suzanne
5 years agoWe are hoping you will be able to have a quick fix to your electric motor issues and get the show back on the road. Despite the setback looks like you made good use of your day.
5 years agoKeith and I stayed put and did an unloaded ride in the area when the weather cleared for a short while. Some of the clouds have been dramatic and beautiful, but all seem full of water.
5 years agoWhat a wonderful encounter. Those river barges have intrigued me since our first trip.
5 years agoSunny and hot in Victoria!
5 years agoWe’re so sorry about your back too, Barry. I have my own back issues from time to time and know enough of what you’re experience to really sympathize. Good luck with a quick recovery!
Also, I’m so glad the two of you are pioneering this region for all of us. It looks like wonderful cycling country, at least when the weather cooperates. We’re going to have to study the maps and think about this.
We are holed up in our hotel room in Annecy. It is POURING. Today’s plan was a ride around and above the lake unloaded...I don’t think so. We are in surprisingly good humour about it. We will go to the museum and perhaps check out the sauna in the hotel later. Tomorrow looks better, and there is always the train hehe.
5 years agoThank you for your kind wishes Kathleen.
We are so enjoying your journal and your great photos. Having only visited Basel, we are very tempted to explore Switzerland based on your narrative and images. Aren’t the winds a major challenge? We read about your battle with them and we can relate as we had a similar experience with side winds in Holland.
Have a great day and enjoy the better temperatures.
All the best (Are you and Keith recovering from your colds?)

Ah, I thought this was my chance to learn the all important "per kugel" price of ice cream in Poland. But at first I could not decipher either the currency or the menu. Would I be right to say the per kugel price is about 75 euro cents?
5 years agoIn studying the picture, I also noticed one other cutie hiding in the window. Is that a spare? Would she like a ride on my e-bike??
