I don’t think they’re wild. A lot of this country is managed as dehesas (in Spain) or montados (in Portugal)- basically, open grass/oak savannas where the domestic stock roams free grazing on acorns. Pigs raised for Iberian ham and bulls for bullfighting are some of the main products.
1 year agoI thought they were ranch hogs allowed to roam free. Common opinion seems to be that they are nuisance, wild hogs.
We don't like the Iberian ham here - I hardly dare say that, being a source of pride and all. You could have come on this trip, we have found non fish options every place. It's easier if you don't mind eating pork.
Those are some lean hogs.
BTW, How do you like the European-style Jamon?
Action shot!
1 year agoI should have been faster getting off the bike so I could see over the weeds. I would have gotten more than their backsides. I wasn't sure what I was looking at to start.
1 year agoHow great! You caught them stampeding.
1 year agoThis has never been an issue in all of my years cycling, but I did keep one set of pins and pads, just in case! They’re small.
1 year agoYep, that's broom. Invasive as heck.
1 year agoPleased that you got the right split pin for your brake pads.

Yes, that was the sun. A real camera could have gotten some amazing shots.
1 year agoI'm taking notes on your assertive breakfast ordering. As a wise woman I once worked for frequently reminded me, "You don't ask...you don't get."
1 year agoGood ol' century plant
