About
I'm a retired mental health professional. I got my first bike when I was 6 and it became my joy. When I was 14 I took my first overnighter with my Camp Fire Girls group at my insistence. I've been touring off and on ever since. Most of my tours have been with children. I started with my 6 month old son and 12 year old brother. My first cross-country trip was with a mental health client who had paranoid schizophrenia. My agency helped pay for the trip and it changed the clients life for the better. Then I started taking my therapeutic foster kids and grandkids on multi-month bike tours. Now everyone is grown up and I've switched to solo touring. Recently, I've gone from a touring bike to an ICE Adventure trike. On my last cross-country trip I ended up walking the steep mountains. A trike solves that problem. I also have a small dog that I want to take with me around the US this summer. A trike is more stable for carrying him and allowing him to run along side.
Beyond cycling, I love to play music. I'm a mediocre player of the guitar, fiddle, mandolin, flute, clarinet, saxophones, and Oboe. I backpack and I've climbed a few mountains. And I read adventure travel books. I'm looking forward to many more years of touring.
