About
I first cycled a trip in 1975, the South Downs Way. On the bike I went to school on. Then a year later the same friend and I cycled across France aged 16. God knows what my parents thought we got up to, but we managed to get to Puy from Surrey, via Southampton and rural France. One hell of an adventure. Since then I've cycled a bit here and there, my favourite trip was at 55years old, having hardly ridden for donkeys years, I got on my bike, the one I took the kids to school with the trailer and cycled back to England. A solo ride on a hot August, I promised to be back home before my youngest went to uni. I had a Michelin Map of Europe, you know the one with the campsites on. And cycled from one to the next, all the way across Portugal,Spain, France and Ireland. No mod cons, a basic brick phone and £800.
Have ridden different Caminos a few times now with my husband. I've bikepacked a few solo trips in UK.
Still peddle a bit, got a bucket list still at 65, though the roads are busy and it freaks me out how crap drivers are these days.
