SPECIAL THANKS: First, let me thank you for joining me on CycleBlaze.com. I was introduced to this site by fellow bicycle travelers whom I met in Florida during a tour of the Gulf Coast of the United States in 2018. (Special thanks to Kerry and Jeanna and CycleBlaze.com, you guys rock.)
TRAVELER'S BIO: I reside in Mechanicsburg, PA, only eight miles from the state's capitol of Harrisburg. I am retried from the U.S. Coast Guard (20-years in Photojournalism & Public Affairs) and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (17-years State Emergency Management Operations).
I have been an avid cyclist since the age of 17, when I completed my first 100-mile ride for a local charity. My interest in bicycle touring started later in life when I joined a group on an overnight bicycle trip. With my road bike loaded with a make-shift rack and bag with panniers, I road 80 miles to the destination and then back. That experience prompted me to research a "real" touring bike and to ride my first week-long, solo tour around the smallest state - Rhode Island. That was in 2012; happy to say, many more adventures followed including my longest solo tour along the Gulf of Mexico in 2018. The route started in North Padre Island, Texas, and finished in Tampa, Florida, 1,200 miles.
During my adventures, I learned a lot about myself and just how nice people can be to strangers. I have made a lot of friends on the road and seen and photographed a lot of beautiful places.
I am extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to see the world by bicycle. Thank you to all of my friends and family who support my adventures, it means so much to me to have your company and support!
