I did my first cycle tour around Lac St Jean, Quebec with a group of friends ranging in age from 13 (me) to 17 in 1976! We were a motley crew with homemade bikes, new Canadian Tire 'supercycles' and everything in between. We camped and stayed with friends and had a wonderful time. I didn't do any other touring until about 1981 or 82, When 2 girlfriends and I set off from the West Island Montreal and toured through the Eastern townships, the Green and White Mountains of Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. We mostly camped that trip. 

I generally used my bicycle as transport and did not really do anymore touring until I met my husband, Lyle McLeod.  We then did shorter trips of 2 weeks which fit into the working life. Children then followed and we did a couple of trips on tandems doing the Sea to Sea trip (C to C) from Whitehaven to Robin Hood Bay and then Sweden. 

Now the we are happily retired, Lyle and I now try to do a longer tour every second year.
