Although I've been a cyclist since I was a kid (I'm now much older) and have done numerous supported "cross-state" and international tours, I've done only a very limited amount of self-supported touring.
Now that I've retired from professional life and career, I hope to change that.

My first touring bike, a 1984 Trek 620 I christened Scout, in honor of the horse Jay Silverheels rode as Tonto. He was my faithful friend until 2006 when he died of an old injury.Scout was succeeded in 2007 by Odysseus, a made-to-order Bike Friday New World Tourist. Despite my intentions we really had just a few "adventure tours" together. In late 2022 I replaced Odysseus with Serenity, another bespoke ride. This time it's a Rodriguez Phinney Ridge, built to my specifications. Where will we go from here?A much younger version of myself, taken 20 years ago.Older, not much wiser, and on the road.
