Hello! 

In 2016 I set out to ride east to west on the TransAm trail. I pressed pause in Goreville, IL, about 1100 miles from Yorktown, VA. I was pleased with my progress, but decided to stop earlier than I had expected for a number of reasons. Mostly, I wanted to be back home with my children and husband (though I was grateful for their support and love). I also was as close to my home state of Indiana as I'd be on the ride and just felt a pull to return home. I was also anticipating the humidity, heat and hills in Missouri and didn't want to ride my bicycle through that. In hindsight, if I had given myself a 0 day and rested, I might have pushed through and gone further. But I'm not sore about it and feel really proud of myself with what I accomplished. I returned home to my 3 year old, 8 year old and 9 year old, all happy to have Mom back home. 

I'm ready to head back out, four years later! I plan on heading west from Goreville, IL and riding 6 weeks out to the Oregon coast. Really grateful for all who have shared their adventures and experiences via their journals.
