Day 8
Our final day on our trip was a short one. We rode from Penitente Canyon on washboard roads, and joined the Great Divide Route once again. Washboard roads rattled our teeth. We were met by horses in the fields, watching and talking to us as we rode. Three massive white tails spooked and darted out of sight on a dead run. It was a short ride to Del Norte, meeting up with pavement just outside of town. Boogies seemed to be the breakfast hotspot, so we again helped the local economy and cooked breakfast the retired crazy guy on a bike way- letting someone do the work.
From Del Norte, it was 14 more miles upslope to South Fork, across the Rio Grande, to where we had left our vehicle before the trip, and the end to another successful trip.
