Day 13 - Somerville to Houston (home)
Since our ride was effectively over, there wasn't any rush to get moving this morning. Our "cavalry" said he'd be out to get us sometime after 10am so there was time to enjoy breakfast and slowly pack up.
When the cavalry arrived it kind of reminded me of the contestants on the Naked and Afraid TV show where a truck appears in some remote location to extract them at the end of the "game". Of course, we weren't anywhere remote and we hadn't had to truly "hunt" our food, but it was sometimes a challenge to find "acceptable" grub in rural areas with a lack of services within reasonable distances for people without a vehicle.

It was a quick ride home and an anti-climatic finish to our trip. We unoaded everything in the garage and closed the doors to be dealt with tomorrow.
The first order of business was to honor our "rest" day with a nap. After a 2-hour nap, it was time to refill the fuel tanks with some Mexican food and a couple good margaritas to celebrate a successful tour. The worst part at the end of a tour is to realize all the eating without worry has come to an end as well!
There will be plenty of time tomorrow to unpack, clean gear, and get the house back in order. Then the inevitable dreaming of what the next adventure will be can begin.

It is fun to "meet" other touring cyclists and share the adventure. I also need a way to remember all the trips and places, so it serves both purposes well!
'Til next time 😊
