Many Miles and High Temps

Farmington to Auburn

E knew the ride would be long and temperatures high with thunderstorms forecast in the afternoon. So e we left a little earlier than usual with plans to get to Auburn by 1:00 or 2:00. We made it at about 1:30. Mostly country roads. A few trails. But amazing farmland throughout. We took a detour of the route for a lunch stop at the Montezuma Audubon Center where they allowed Jill and Todd to set up inside in an air conditioned room. It’s a wonderful center. One of my Audubon Vermont friends who used to work at Audubon NY told my it’s one of the New York offices. It’s a great space with many educational exhibits, office space, classrooms, and restrooms for all!!! Thank you Audubon NY for welcoming us!!!

It was mostly just a riding along kind of day. We had a good Asian restaurant dinner and then sound asleep.

The bridge to nowhere. This was one of the original iron bridges that crossed the canal and were well known for their design. When they were being taken down the decision was made to save this one and put it in a park for all to see.

Here’s Elliott on a pedestrian/biking bridge on the trail.

You don’t see many rapids biking along the canal so it was fun to see these and had to take a photo!
