Day off Riding

Port Huron

We stayed at a Double Tree just under the Blue Water Bridge from U.S. to Canada. The St. Claire River connects Lake Huron and Lake Erie and separates The U.S. and Canada. It was cold again but cloudy/sunny so we walked on the bike/pedestrian path along the river under the bridge. Also visited the Thomas Edison Museum. He was raised in Port Huron and had quite a history here as he grew to be the inventor we’ve all heard of: phonograph, moving pictures, and of course the light bulb among a zillion other things. It was a quiet, relaxing day!

If you take time to read all the signage you learn interesting little tidbits like this one. There was an interesting diagram showing where the train car would be attached to the cable way upstream and then be pulled across as the current pulled it down stream. Ingenious.
