I saw 5 brumbies drinking at a waterhole. They ran off pretty quickly.

My time on Savannah Way has come to an end. I will travel on the Carpentaria HWY for a few days.

There were a few of these guys going back and forth today.

They are hauling lead-zinc ore from the McArthur River mine to Bing Bong to be sent offshore.

They've got 98 wheels. I wonder how often they get a flat tyre.

It was a pleasure riding on the bitumen today. So smooth. Few traffic. I was able to listen to some podcasts as I cruised along.

I arrived at the Caranbirini Conservation Reserve. This has a lagoon with a bird hide, some walks and interesting rock formations.

Willy wagtail.

I had the time so I did a 5km track walk.

These delicious looking fruits were about 1cm. I didn't taste them.

I don't know what they are.

This little guy was only about 10cm long. He had a long toe on his hind foot.

Bill later identified this as a type of two-lined dragon. Thanks Bill.

The walking track was prime snake habitat. I only saw one small grey snake.

This tiny wattle flower was on a small shrub only about 40cm high.

This well camouflaged guy was about 15cm long.

Bill ShaneyfeltAfter much internet searching, my best guess is Slater's dragon.

Great photo! Much better than others I could find.

It took me 2 hours to walk the 5kms at a moderate pace. I think the sign is wrong and the walk was more like 8kms.

I went back to the bird hide and had a snack and looked for more birds.

Green pygmy goose.

My free camping spot.
Heart 7 Comment 0

It's against the rules for me to be here as there is a no camping sign. If I get in trouble I will plead for compassion as there are no campgrounds close by for me to ride to.

I had the best view while I heated up my Chinese takeaway for dinner.

Vince McCarthyIt was a great spot. I was fortunate that I stayed there the night and had the time to walk around and sit around to take pics.
