Saint-Marcellin to Charpey
When we get off the TER train, we head straight to lunch in Saint-Marcellin. We find the main street, with little multi-coloured flags and plant ourselves in the most happening brasserie. I order my first coke of the trip. The waitress gives me a funny look when I tell her "je prends un coke." My high school conjugation was up to par, but alas, I did not know that "coke" meant the sniffy stuff, and "coca" meant the carbonated beverage. The first lesson.
During lunch, Tamara arranges a WarmShowers homestay with Mylène and Thibault, a couple who moved to Charpey during the pandemic with their young daughter Louisa. We ride to a nearby fromagerie to bring a little gift for apéro, and had a great time picking out cheeses. Of course, we bring a wheel of Saint-Marcellin too.

We share a nice evening over pizza. In fact, Mylène had used WarmShowers in her travels, and the friend she toured with hit it off with and got married to a host they met in Scandinavia. Crazy stuff.
Today's ride: 53 km (33 miles)
Total: 53 km (33 miles)
