Castellane to La Palud-sur-Verdon

We slept in this morning, before casually rolling into Castellane for breakfast. At the boulangerie, I pick up a few different flatbreads. Pissaladière, a flatbread topped with candied onions and anchovies (it tastes better than it sounds) was the favourite. As we leave the store, a car runs over a pigeon and its blood runs red through the street. Kind of ominous.

We go back to the tourist office, where I see posters for trail running events and even road closure for cyclists. Very cool!

We confirm that there's no chance we'll be able to do canoë today. Today's ride will be short but there's a decent amount of climbing -- 506m, so I ride back to the boulangerie, where the pigeon carcass has been cleaned up (merci), and I get two slices of pissaladière for the road.

It was so stupidly windy today, it had me considering motorcycle radios.

Today's ride: 26 km (16 miles)
Total: 365 km (227 miles)
