I am abandoning the rest of the Carretera Austral road and part of southern section. I had another 235 km to go and 3500 meters of climbing to Villa O’Higgins. The weather for several days has been around 6 deg C and raining, the road is atrocious.

Tomorrow I am taking the ferry at Tortel, going to Puerto Natales ( 41 hours navigating in the fiords). This enables me to skip 600 km and 10 000 meters of climbing in 50% bad road conditions. Many cyclist are doing this.

For two weeks I will be hiking in the Fitzroy (Argentina) and Torres del Paine (Chili) parks.

On my return I will make a decision if continuing biking from Puerto Natales.
