Noon saturday, it’s raining but this morning was sunny. Here for 2 more days. Will be shipping gear to Canada on Monday. Bike too heavy for dirt roads.

Left Lencen Wednesday to cycle to first ferry. There was a demonstration blocking the road. Foreign or outside workers stealing jobs.

The dogs are free roaming in Chile. Most households have 3 dogs. I was attacked 5 times, so many barking. So I got an idea, for YouTube, I will do a barking dog segment. Wrong idea, once you set up the camera, they on their way to attack. I am no dog whisperer 

Scary  episode: Going uphill with no speed I see two dogs barking on the roadside, one on each side. They see me , one is a German shepherd, they sit down. Impossible for me to out speed them. So before the encounter I grab some rocks for ammo. Then the encounter, they just look at me.

Riding is tough, 800 m of climbs, the rain is light which is good no down pour. Got to the second ferry in Hornopiren. It’s only leaving next day at 14:00.So found a room and went to bed wet, next day clothes was dry.

Met seven more cyclists on ferry, I fixed a bike next morning for Chilean woman. The road to Chaiten was rough, 1000 meters of climbing on a road consisting of glacial debris, then dirt road. Bike too heavy, tires dig in, 47 mm wide is not enough. I got to radically lighten the bike panniers.
