Day 059 - Mackinaw City to Paradise

Today, riding to Paradise definitely was not rapturous. When we woke up at 6:30 this morning it was raining. I had planned to leave by 8:30, but it was still raining when 8:30 rolled around, so we decided to hang around the room for a while. By 10:00 the forecast showed that the rain was clearing, so we loaded up the car and drove across the Mackinac Bridge. We stopped at a gas station in St. Ignace to get gas and, even though it was in the low 50's and still raining, I decided to go ahead and unload the bike and ride as planned.
Jeanna was concerned about my riding, but I said I would hang around the gas station until the rain stopped and that I would be fine. Feeling a bit reassured, Jeanna took off and headed for Paradise. After about 15 minutes of waiting the rain stopped, so I headed out. Unfortunately, it started raining again before I even got 2 miles under my belt, and it continued to rain for the next 50 miles. It was after 4:30 before the rain stopped for good.
The saying "There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad gear" held true today. I had layered up with both my cold weather gear and my rain gear and had a surprisingly enjoyable ride. My only problem was with my glasses - I couldn't keep the rain off of them and they kept fogging up. Otherwise, I was warm and dry, and I may actually be getting used to this type of weather.
I didn't get my camera out until late into the ride after the rain had stopped, but other than trees, there really wasn't much to photograph anyway.
