It was another day of lots of climbing for these Floridian cyclists. We had about 2500 feet again today. At home, that can be ten days of riding!
Rural Connecticut is very pretty. These low stone fences are common.

This old tractor sat in front of a modern house. Maybe some family history in it?
And this old truck is just an old truck. Its history is probably long forgotten.
We routed a few miles on the Quinebaug River Trail. All the information we found online said it was paved. The trail entrance was in a residential neighborhood. We rode down through the neighborhood and came to this.

Kerry decided it wasn't worth it to ride three miles on mud, so we turned around and started back to the main road. Just a couple of blocks away, we saw a man out walking and stopped to ask him about the trail. He assured us that the unpaved part was very short and that the trail really was paved. So we turned around again and went back. Sure enough, the muddy mess lasted only a few hundred feet and soon we were here:

We enjoyed the trail until it ended by leaving the river and becoming a wide sidewalk along a moderately busy highway. We were glad to be done with it then.
It was time for a break, so we stopped at the next convenience store for a drink and snacks. Kerry wanted me to get a picture of the gas prices for the journal. We are glad that our RV runs on Diet Coke and doesn't need more than 2 Liters a day!
We made it to Massachusetts today. They even had a real welcome sign for us.
Our last break was at the Rt 12 Variety store in Oxford, MA. It had food, drinks, tables, chairs, good A/C and Alma. Alma was warm and friendly and made us feel welcome.
Today's ride: 44 miles (71 km)
Total: 2,079 miles (3,346 km)
