We had a relatively short ride today. I woke up at 5:45 today to bright sunlight. That surprised me, but then I remembered we were on the very eastern edge of Mountain Time. Jeanna said that we would have a headwind in the morning, shifting to a tailwind by afternoon, but that it was also suppossed to be in the 90's by noon. We decided we would fight the wind in order to stay cool, so we were on the road before 8AM. Turns out that may not have been the best option. The headwind was strong enough that we only averaged about 9 MPH and it got very hot well before noon. Added to that, there were absolutely no towns or C-stores along the route, so when we did stop for a foot break it was in the sun and wind - not very refreshing!!. By the time that we arrived in Holyoke around noon, I was beat.

About 23 miles into today's ride, we entered Colorado. Knowing that Colorado has real mountains, our Seavo pulled us off to the side to ponder if it wanted to continue. This morning, Jeanna & I were reviewing some upcoming 70 mile days in CO and were pondering the same thing!

As I said, we didn't pass through any towns or by any C-stores, but we did pass by miles and miles of FIELDS, which is today's theme.
We saw:
A few miles outside Holyoke, we saw what appeared to be a small airstrip alongside the road. We didn't get it in a photo, but at the end of the strip, there was a sign for an Ag Services company and a small parking lot, so we assume this strip is for crop-dusters to land and reload. Therefore, in my mind, this qualifies as...
However, we didn't see...
Today's ride: 37 miles (60 km)
Total: 2,364 miles (3,804 km)
