Day 65 Frankenmuth, MI

We had a good ride from Midland to Frankenmuth today. The roads were cycle friendly and the terrain was flat. We were worried about rain in the afternoon, but we stayed dry.
We saw our first Michigan oil well pumping today, in the middle of a beet field.
There were a lot of sugar beets growing along the route today.
The corn and soybeans are getting big. Most of the corn is tasseled now.
We also saw several recently harvested wheat fields.
Our route took us through Bay City and across the Saginaw River on a cool bike/pedestrian bridge.
We've been following USBR 20 for a couple of days. It's an excellent cycling route.
We were on this rail trail for a few miles today, but we can't find the name of it.
Smooth new pavement on a road with almost no cars - cycling heaven!
This embankment was made by just stacking Sakrete bags on top of one another. It seemed to work fine.

The forecast for tomorrow calls for a 90% chance of thunderstorms all day, so we decided to make tomorrow a rest day. It's really nice to have the option not to ride in the rain.
Today's ride: 49 miles (79 km)
Total: 3,012 miles (4,847 km)
