Day 26 Thornburg to Fredericksburg
Today we visited Civil War battlefields at Spotsylvania Courthouse and Chancellorsville. It is such an American tragedy. The horrifying loss of life and the scale of the destruction on the land we were walking made for a sober and somber day. I have a hard time accepting that the leaders of our country lead men to do this to each other.
My phone battery was very low, so I have only one picture to post.

There was some humor in the day. My route through the battlefields took us the wrong way on one-way NPS roads for a few miles in each park. The captain of Team A was NOT A FAN of wrong way cycling. That's what happens when you let a left-handed person plan the route!
Getting to our hotel in Fredericksburg was not a humorous cycling experience, though. We had to ride the last few miles on a very busy six lane highway with no shoulder. There were no close calls and the drivers were good, but it was a little harrowing.
Today's ride: 35 miles (56 km)
Total: 1,436 miles (2,311 km)
