Day 17 Sneads Ferry to New Bern
We left Sneads Ferry this morning a little concerned about riding for miles on US 17 after the unpleasant miles we had yesterday. Today was great. There was a wide, smooth, clean bicycle shoulder and riding it was easy and comfortable.
Getting through Jacksonville was no problem and soon we were rolling along through rural areas with lots of tobacco and corn.
We got to New Bern just after 1PM and were able to get our rooms in about 20 minutes. It's nice to get in early to shower, have a leisurely lunch, catch up on laundry and computer stuff and then have a relaxing evening. This hotel has a really nice breakfast area which I think will soon be the site of an intensely competitive evening of cards.
