Day 7: Blackshear, GA to Glennville, GA
We left Blackshear early (for us!) at 7:45AM. Rain was predicted for early afternoon and we decided we would rather get up early than get wet.
It was a nice ride today. It wasn't too hot and we had that wonderful tailwind most of the way. The route went through farms, orchards and timberland.
Yesterday at the Blackshear Chamber of Commerce, Angela gave us two bottles of locally produced blueberry juice and told us we would be passing near a winery today which makes blueberry wine. It was early, so the winery wasn't open, but we did see fields of blueberries.

We've seen many fields which look as if they been recently planted, but the plants weren't big enough for us to identify in most of them. We did see our first field of corn growing this morning,

We also saw a Rotoveyer, which is a rock and root harvester. It is towed over a field and digs down about 10 inches and removes all of the rocks and roots, leaving the ground ready for seeding. The field looked as if it was being cleared for the first time and being converted to farm land. Kerry watched this operation for several minutes and then Googled Rotoveyer when we got to the motel to learn all these interesting facts.
There was a large peach orchard and this section appeared to have been very recently planted.
We spent most of the day riding on Georgia 121. This is north of Surrency.
Our motel tonight is perfect for cycle touring - roll in right off the parking lot - no lobby, no hallway, no stairs!
Tomorrow we are headed to Sylvania, GA.
Today's ride: 54 miles (87 km)
Total: 323 miles (520 km)
