Day 35: Matamoras, PA to New Paltz, NY
Today was on e of the best rides so far. It was sunny and warm most of the day and we rode through attractive rural areas. The densely wooded areas in Pennsylvania were pretty, but I start feeling a little closed in after a while. It felt goo to be out in open spaces again.
Leaving Matamoras, we walked the bike back over the bridge to Port Jervis, NY. There was no sign proclaiming the New York border, so we have no photographic record of entering state #9 - either yesterday or today. Each crossing except one we made from Pennsylvania to New Jersey to New York was accomplished by walking the bike over a bridge. I counted at total of five crossings of the Delaware River.

Our route was through the Catskills, but we had only two real climbs today. The rest were more rolling hills. We could see high mountain ridges all around us.
One of the towns we went through was Otisville, There is a federal medium security prison there which started out as a TB sanitorium in 1906. We saw these large, old buildings all overgrown and wondered what they had been, but I couldn't find anything doing an Internet search. They look like something institutional.

We're at our hotel in New Paltz, NY and Team P has arrived. Tomorrow we will ride to North Canaan, CT with them. I hope Connecticut will provide us with a photo op at the border!
