We had a short ride from Palatka to St. Augustine today. It started with a big climb over a bridge across the St. Johns River.

We rode the Palatka to St. Augustine State Trail for the first twenty miles. This little guy was sharing the trail with us.

We went through the town of Hastings which bills itself as the "Potato Capital of Florida". There were many acres of potato fields along the trail.
My brother and sister-in-law drove down from Jacksonville to have dinner with us and we walked around Old Town a little bit. Tomorrow we plan to visit more of the sights in St. Augustine. JS
Of note to other athletes maybe...my cycling shoes were really smelly the last few days. After googling, I tried spraying them with Isopropyl alcohol (was thrilled to find alcohol in a spray bottle!). It seems to work!
Entering the city limits and finding our hotel is always a bit stressful because of heavier traffic and fewer shoulders or bike lanes. We are gaining more and more experience and appreciate Kerry and Jeanna's calm assurance weaving through traffic! FG
Today's ride: 30 miles (48 km)
Total: 237 miles (381 km)
