Today was a lot of fun. We got an early start (Kerry even agreed to get up at 6:30!) to beat the forecast afternoon thunderstorms.

Our first stop was at Troy Springs State Park. It is very popular with divers, but was closed to diving and swimming because of "flood danger". The water at the spring was up over the walkway and dive platform.
We continued through rural farmland to the little town of Branford and picked up the Suwannee River Greenway bike trail, which parallels the road. It was separate from the road and free from passing cars and trucks, but rather rough and bumpy from tree roots and potholes. The Gasses preferred the safety and relaxed riding of no passing vehicles and the Smiths preferred the smoother road shoulder. It was nice that we could choose our biking surface and still ride together.

Our next stop was at Ichetucknee State Park. It caters to tubers and kayakers. We walked down to the Ichetucknee River and talked with a woman in the water who was floating/swimming downstream. She said the river was six miles long, but she had started at the midpoint. It was a very peaceful and quiet spot.

We ended our ride in High Springs. It was looking very dark and cloudy when we arrived, but we stayed dry all the way. As soon as we checked in, we walked across the street for lunch. As we ate, the storm hit with heavy rain, strong wind, thunder and lightning. We high-fived each other that we reached High Springs just in time! JS
Our timing in regard to the weather couldn't have been more perfect. It is a challenge looking at several weather apps and making our best guess! FG
Today's ride: 47 miles (76 km)
Total: 367 miles (591 km)
