Sunraysia

Euston to Mildura

Today, Day 8, felt like one of the easiest days yet this tour thanks to the lack of head wind. Indeed there was even a hint of tailwinds for an hour or so.

The countryside from Euston to Mildura is a mix of mallee bushland, and irrigated cropping land with sandy soil. Citrus, grapes, nuts and many other crops do well here because of the extensive irrigation network and the ample sunshine which has led to the region being called Sunraysia.

After a 7:15 am start we stopped quite a few times for snacks, rest and water. By 2.30 pm we were in Mildura looking for cabin accommodation which we found in a van park.
