Southern Cross to Merredin
Today was a fast ride. Well fast for me. 112km by 2:30pm with an average of 20km/hr is unusual on this tour. Yes there was a steady, helpful tailwind and the road was mostly good with a decent shoulder with a few exceptions.
I’m surprised at how quickly the appearance of the countryside changed from Southern Cross. We are now well and truly back into cropping country.

John SaxbyFierce-looking creatures, Graham. They'd be right at home as stand-ins in Spielberg's film "The Duel".

Susan CarpenterThe lesson of the rabbit-proof fence, and of Australia's battle to control the European rabbits by physical or biological means (myxoma virus), was always a class favorite in my virus evolution lecture. And the same-named movie is one of my favorites. Thanks Graham!

Graham SmithTo Susan CarpenterSusan all I could think of was that brilliant Telstra advert with the gormless dad.
“Dad why did they build the Great Wall of China?”
“To stop the rabbits”
