Murray Meander
Renmark to Morgan
The mid-section of the Murray River meanders widely, and we followed some of these wanderings today via the Sturt Highway, and then the Goyder Highway to reach the small settlement of Morgan. It’s an historic river port.
The ride was fairly straight forward with undulations totally about 240 metres of ascents over the 117 kilometres distance. Traffic was constant on the Sturt Highway but light on the Goyder Highway. Both had reasonably good shoulders. Drivers again were considerate.
Riverside Caravan and Camping ground in Morgan had the usual accommodation and we had an evening meal at the nearby Terminus Hotel.
Another cycle tourist, Paul Lucas, was also staying in the same campground and we ate with him at the pub. Paul, a retired electrical engineer from Mornington in Vic is cycling the length Murray River from the Hume Weir at Wodonga to the Cooyong using his Giant hard tail mountain bike and a two-wheeled trailer.
