Breezy Ride

Carrathool to Hay

Today’s ride was the shortest and flattest, but the windiest day we’ve had on the tour. A steady 20+km/hr headwind blew from the west for most of the day. Nevertheless we arrived in the small town of Hay by early afternoon.

The scenery was interesting for the entire route. It varied from crops such as cotton to grazing country and to riverine nature reserves.

I was pleased the local newspaper, “The Grazier” is interested in doing a story on the fundraising ride. They sent a photographer to take a few snaps of us riders, and asked for the key points of information about the ride.

The highlight of today was meeting with local farmers and business people Stacey and Ian Lugsdin in Hay. We had afternoon tea at their roadhouse, and then ate dinner with them at the South Hay Pub.

Farewell to last night’s accommodation, the Carrathool Family Hotel.

Afternoon tea with friend Stacey Lugsdin. Stacey and her family are wool producers, and also own the roadhouse where she shouted us afternoon tea.
