After a wonderful breakfast, Karin drove us to Potsdam to explore the palaces and gardens at Sanssouci Park. It was interesting to go by car along part of the route that we had taken by bicycle. Sanssouci Park is an ensemble of palaces and gardens, which were built under Frederick the Great during the 18th century and were expanded under Frederick William IV in the 19th century. Sanssouci Palace, the summer residence of Frederick the Great, is the main focus. We had an amazing day wondering through the palace, the New Chambers, the Picture Gallery, the Chinese House and the beautiful gardens.
Mary Ellen and Karin wondering through the palace gardens. We had such a wonderful day. We feel that Sanssouci Palace ranks as one of the wonders of Europe. It offers so much that it is difficult to see everything in one day. As well, the number of visitors is limited so that you never feel crowded. Thanks to Karin, for an extraordinary and memorable day.
