Tangermunde to Havelberg: Heat wave continues!!
We had a very hot and not very intersting ride to Havelberg. We opted to ride on the right side of the river. This area was especially hard hit by flooding and we could see evidence of this. At one point, we had to backtrack and take the road as much construction is ongoing to replace the dike (which broke during the flood of 2013)and recreate cycle paths.
There is not much prosperity in this area and no shops or commerce. We stopped at the one cafe we saw and had an ice cream. We found the area dusty and hot.
We crossed the small bridge to the Island (Insul) at Havelberg and we were greeted by Peter's friendly wave. The canoers had beaten us here. Like us, they had a hot day on the river and were relaxing by their bungalow at the Kanu Club.
We took a look at the campground, which was very busy, crowded and hot. We opted to also take a bungalow at the Rowing Club. 20 euros for a cabin and full use of their facilities. Karin (and her friend Sylvia) were very helpful and hospitable.
