Day75 Brattleboro VT to Peterborough NH

It was 55° this morning when we got up. We didn’t have to ride far to get to the New Hampshire state line. State #10. We knew we would have hills today and our first one was 3 miles up. It took us 16 miles  to  get to Keene NH and we rode around to see if we could find a cafe or Dunkin’s but to no avail. We had been on route 9 until we got to Keene. We then had to get on route 101. We couldn’t believe how much traffic there was. Years ago when we lived in NH there wasn’t much traffic at all. Times change. We had a good shoulder but the further from Keene we got the shoulder got smaller. Luckily the traffic was good to us and for many miles it was 2 lanes on our side of the road. We came upon a glass blowing place by noticing the sculpture outside. We stopped and went in to see a class of kids getting to blow glass. Hubs and I did it once and it is fun. We did have to some pushing now and again and we happened to be pushing when we came to the Friendly Farm. I remember taking the kids here when they were little. Well, this llama saw me and came right over to the fence. I thought please don’t spit. He didn’t as he was just being curious. Onward and upward we went. We knew we would be coming to the Yankee Magazine Publishing in Dublin and thought they had a picnic table outside that we could have our lunch but no table. We took pictures and started downhill when Hubs found a table at an Oriental Rug Shop. We continued on and yes we got into Peterborough early so ice cream was calling. When we were done and ready to leave this guy came out of the store next to the ice cream shop. His name is Mark and we started talking about bike touring. He actually did the Northern Tier route back in 2009. He had gotten laid off at work and his wife told him to go and ride. He made it from Washington state to Michigan and ran out of time so he came home. He really wants to get back out there. Hopefully he and his wife will do a tour when he retires. We got to our room, took a shower and headed (

Bob DistelbergOoh, Utica Boilermaker shirt! I used to run that race every year back in the late 80’s/early 90’s.

Phil/Ann DettwilerSo happy for your time with friends again…and it looks like they are excited to see you, too! Loved that church picture! You have done such a beautiful job taking pics of interesting architecture, animals, people you’ve met, and gorgeous landscapes—makes me sigh. And that IPA sure looked nice, too. 😉
Wishing you a beautiful ride again and then a rest with friends!! A& P

Lois AlexanderYes, it is great to be able to see friends and get to spend some time with them. Gary sure did love the IPA. He has been lucky with such a variety of them.
