Day 47 Manitowish Waters WI to Lond O Lakes WI

It was 58° when we got up. We stopped at the cafe right next door to the motel for breakfast. The maìtre d met us before we went in. When we left we were right back onto the bike trail we were on yesterday. It was wonderful. After riding a bit we did encounter wild animals and seeing we haven’t really seen any before today, I figured I better get a picture so I have proof of seeing them. We continued on and we did have 2 different real short steep hills. On the 2nd one I couldn’t make it up and got stuck so Hubs had to come help me so I could get off the bike. Otherwise it was a fabulous trail. We stopped for a minute and two guys rode up to us and stopped to talk. The tall one is Ted and the other is Joe. Ted was telling us about his touring that he has done. We love hearing other people’s adventures. Then they were off and we continued on. After 15 miles we made it to Boulder Junction. Coming the opposite way was Ted and Joe. They were on their way back but let us know about a good cafe in town. We stopped for a drink and a nibble. When we left we know longer had the wonderful trail. We did find a different trail but it didn’t last long and we had to get back on the road. Again it was a road all torn up to be repaired. We probably were on it for a few miles and then got stopped as it went down to one lane. Luckily when we got to go again we didn’t go far and we turned onto a different road with no shoulder. I can’t remember how far we went and the GPS said we needed to take a left. No way!! It wasn’t paved and we were not riding on those gravel dirt roads. We had to go another 2 1/2 miles before we needed to turn again and we saw 2 bikers coming out the road we needed to ride on. We stopped and chatted with them and they said the trail was paved all the way into Land O Lakes. Yes, that is what we like to hear. It wasn’t as wonderful as the one we were on earlier but at least there wasn’t any traffic and that is nice. When we were going over a bridge we noticed all these women in canoes and saw they had camping gear with them. They were on their own adventures. Hopefully they have great weather and an awesome time. Coming back from dinner we noticed these pretty flowers and they needed to be shared. When we got back to the motel, we met Pat and Shirl. They were looking at their own paper map figuring out where they are going next. Let’s hope their

Phil/Ann DettwilerAnd we are sitting on our screened porch with sangria ….awaiting your journal entry tonight. Wondering if it was as hot for you today; did get to 86 here but less humidity which greatly helped. Wanted to send a pic but can’t seem to do it…so try to get a visual of two old duffers holding stainless wine glasses and viewing a field of wild flowers and thousands of Queen Anne’s Lace!

Lois AlexanderTo Phil/Ann DettwilerShoot. Too bad we didn’t see this earlier as we would had a picture of us enjoying a beer and a delicious peach and vodka drink that Maggie made for me.
