It was only 49° degrees when we woke up this morning so we knew we had to dress warmer. We headed out for breakfast and stopped to load up with water and lunch and on our way we went. We rode on route 63 and the road was great. We had a real nice shoulder and a tailwind. As we were riding we kept hearing this noise and when we saw the tractor Hubs decided to stop. He thought it might be a cranberry bog. The tractor was going up and down these real wide rows and we saw one of the guys pouring something into a chute. He went down to talk to them but the guy just ignored us. I googled it and 60% of cranberries come from WI. We never knew that. I thought they all came from Massachusetts. We went about 16 miles and came into the town of Cable. Some guy was coming out a side road, rolled down his window and yelled, “Welcome to Cable”. We stopped at a cafe as Hubs wanted a hot chocolate and an English muffin. When we left we had to turn onto route M and we saw the guy again and he told us to come over to where he was as he wanted to talk to us. He belongs to the chamber of commerce and wanted to take our picture in front of the Visitor Center so they could put it on their Face Book page. We became instant celebrities 😜. When we were leaving we started seeing all these art works and I had to take pictures. Once we went through town and were rolling along I started seeing these flying yellow things. I knew they weren’t flowers but couldn’t figure out what they were then suddenly Hubs stops quickly. It turns out back at the cafe he took his bike jacket off and put it on top of his back pannier, it fell off and wrapped itself in his back wheel. He almost fell. We got it out and I laughed and said, “You are now

an Official Hobo. We have to say this was one of our best riding days. We had rollers but they were not huge. We did have 2 climbs but we made it through both of them. When we got to our warm showers, Kristen was actually coming out of the house to bring beach towels for us. We are staying upstairs over their garage. It is awesome. It’s a little apartment. Kristen and her husband Jeff live in an amazing house that they designed. It’s on a quiet lake. It’s a log cabin but with very tall ceilings and most of the furniture is custom made. They did an awesome job with the whole thing. Super nice people and it was so enjoyable talking with them. We had a delicious dinner of bratwurst, sauerkraut, coleslaw and beans. Jeff will be going on a fishing adventure up in Canada in a couple of weeks that sounds like it will be an awesome time. Jeff was kind enough to give Hubs one of his jackets. He said he had others and didn’t need this one, plus he gave us bear spray. Thank you so much Jeff. Tomorrow we head to Butternut WI.
Today's ride: 40 miles (64 km)
Total: 1,885 miles (3,034 km)
