Day 35 Horace and to Ferguson Falls MN
Today we left later than we usually do, 8:30 am. We were having a good time eating breakfast with Mara, Warren, Andreas and Tomas. It was cute as Tomas has never had French toast and boy was he enjoying it. He even asked Hubs how to make it. Mara and Andreas both enjoy old movies and they were bringing up different ones and actresses. Andreas did tell us that he got in touch with an actor to get an autographed photo. I asked him how he did that and he said he called him on the phone. I asked how he got the actors number and he said it was in the directory. The actor did send him an autographed picture. I asked who the actor was and he said it was a German actor. Amazing that they have their phone numbers in the directory. When we decided it was time to go there were Hugs all around. We really did have a great time so it was hard to leave. Any biker who stays with Mara and Warren will have a hard time leaving. When we got outside we had to say goodbye to all the chickens and of course Rosie, the dog. Hubs went to say goodbye to her and for the first time she laid on her back for a belly rub. So off we went and lucky us, we had a tailwind. We also had great shoulders and nice roads, straight as an arrow. The traffic wasn’t bad either. I was surprised we never saw a welcome to Minnesota sign, so we did a selfie when we saw something telling us we were in Minnesota. We rode along lots of cornfields and Hubs wanted to show how tall the corn was in this

one field. He is almost 6 feet tall and even with his arm up the corn stalks were taller. We came to some new plants that we haven’t seen before and Hubs had to investigate. I think they are rutabaga’s. We went around 28 miles and got into Barnesville ND at lunchtime so we stopped in the only restaurant that was open. It was called the Purple Goose. It’s funny as it looked like a nice town but nothing was open and it’s a Saturday!! The lunch was excellent. As we were riding we did have to veer off to the left and the road changed. Bumpity bump, bumpity bump etc, for about 14 miles. Still we did not complain as we still had the tailwind. A few miles from Ferguson Falls we came to newly paved road. Ahhhhh. Now we know we are getting closer to town as there is a hill. As we are going up, all of a sudden I hear, “Well hello there”. I said hello and here comes a young guy with a loaded bike. His name is Caleb, he is 19 years old and he is traveling from Antacortes WA to Maine. He rode with us for awhile and he planned his route all around Disc Golf. He has an app on his phone with all the Disc Golf locations. We had to make a turn to get to our motel and he went straight but we are sure we will see him again as he will most likely catch up to us after his Disc Golf tomorrow. We had a delicious dinner and now relaxing for tomorrows ride to Alexandria MN. After about 5 miles we should be picking up a bike trail all the way to our next motel.
Today's ride: 59 miles (95 km)
Total: 2,297 miles (3,697 km)
