Day 33 Enderlin and to Horace ND

After we left the tavern (for the wifi) last night we went back to the park where our tent was to make dinner. While we doing that another biker came into the park. He stopped to talk to us and we told him he could tent camp here also. His name is Kyle and started in New York and was headed to Washington and from there he will decide if he wants to go down to California. He is going in the opposite direction from us and let us know that on 46 there was a shoulder in the road but the rumble strip took up the entire shoulder so the biking wasn’t fun. We knew we had to go on 46 so Hubs started looking at different ways we could go. Kyle went into town for dinner, we ate ours, cleaned up and decided to go to bed. Into the tent we go. I read for awhile and went to sleep. I heard Hubs a few times dealing with calf cramps and felt so bad for him. They are bad enough but when you are in a tent they are horrible as you can’t get out easily to stretch and walk them off. I didn’t sleep that great (as I never do in the tent) but Hubs didn’t get any sleep. When we woke up I did get a minor cramp in my calf but was able to loosen it up pretty quickly. As we were taken everything down we noticed Kyle’s tent and  it just looked like a small screened room. He didn’t have a fly over it. Hopefully he didn’t get to damp from the dew. I guess he decided to sleep in as he was still asleep when we finally left around 7:40 am. We got on route 46 and we did have a shoulder for about 4 or 5 miles and then the rumble strip took over. We decided to turn left onto route 38 but what a head wind. We went about a mile and then took a right onto a gravel road. We came to an intersection and going straight which we were going to do there was a sign saying the bridge was out. We decided to keep going to see if we could get by it anyway as this is the way google said to go. Well the middle of the road had some pretty good grass on it and we then ended up  in full greenery landscaping. Hubs went to check out if we could still get through but to no avail. We back tracked to the intersection and went right still on gravel. We came to another intersection and took a right there also. By the time we got off the gravel road we had gone 10 miles. We went back onto 46 and took a left onto 18 into Lenard. We stopped for lunch in Lenard and were talking to people there. This guy Chris was talking to hubs and we told him we were going to route 16. He informed us that it was closed and gave us a different route to take. Another gravel road for another 11 miles!! We then ended up on a paved road and thought we were going to be getting a good head wind but it wasn’t to bad. As we were going along I noticed some new construction of something going on. We decided to go investigate. Hubs rode in to talk to this guy whose name is Kim and ask what they were building. They were building a dam to channel the water for flood control. Once we got the info we were off again. Getting closer to our Warm Showers and boy were we ready. I told Hubs this was Buffet riding day and none of it tasted good. One more gravel road to our destination. We finally arrived to a bunch of sheep, free running chickens and Rosie the friendly dog. Our hosts are Mara and Warren Sloberg. There is also another biker staying here to. His name is Matt and he was here last night and decided to stay another night. He is from Oregon and is biking home. He started in Bangor Maine.  Mara and Warren are wonderful people. They got into Warm Showers as Mara had found out about a group of cyclists, the green riders coming through and needed a place to stay. Seeing Warren and Mara live on a 310 acre farm that they could all camp on their property. I think they said there was about 60 of them and then they learned about Warm Showers and became hosts. We had dinner and all sat out on the back porch and had some great conversations. We are only about 11 miles from Fargo and Hubs has been having a problem finding us a room for tomorrow night. Warren told us that there is a wrestling convention

This is Kyle. He was beat as his ride entailed a head wind the whole way

We learned how corn is pollinated. The stem things on the top of the stalk fall down into the corn to pollinate it

going on with over 7,000 wrestlers coming in. These are kids from all over. It goes on every year and Mara said it is getting bigger all the time. Who knows maybe we just might stay here another night and just ride into Fargo for the day. We will have to see tomorrow.

Today's ride: 50 miles (80 km)
Total: 2,347 miles (3,777 km)

Bonnie AlexanderSome times it’s a good and some times it’s a shit! I can’t believe the one place you had pre opted to stay for a couple of days is being taking over by an event 🤦🏻‍♀️ Hopefully you find a place amongst the 🤼‍♀️🤞🏻
