Day 17 Eureka MT to Dog Creek Lodge

Happy July 4th. 🇺🇸. We left Eureka and the GPS took us on a different route which we thought would be less traveled but it wasn’t. Once we got off the main road it was a climb that we had to push. We seemed to push a lot today. We eventually had to get back on route 93 which was a very, very, busy road with practically no shoulder. I was surprised at how busy it was as I figured people would be home having cookouts.

I wasn’t going to take any train pictures today but loved the mountains in the background

These people were piling more firewood and we couldn’t believe how many cords they already have. They are piled so neatly and I would t be surprised if they sell it.

I just can’t get over the color of the water. It reminds me of the Caribbean. Why can’t the beaches on Hilton Head be this color

Some were courteous but a lot were not. We made it to the lodge but alas the restaurant is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays. We did know that so we had gotten some rice packets at the grocery store to cook for dinner. We do also have 1 more freeze dried dinner we could make also. When we got to the lodge we had to find our room as no one is here. The email said we were in the Loon Room and the key was in the door. Hubs finally found it. I noticed a van pulling up and thought maybe they were the owners to the house so Hubs went to ask about wifi. They are actually people staying here also. Hubs mentioned about no food and next thing you know they came down and said they had a cookout yesterday and had some leftover burgers if we wanted them. Yes please! They brought down burgers, tomato slices, Cheetos, apples and a couple of brownies. A bit later they came down with fresh watermelon slices. How generous is that??? There is a hot tub here and we were all excited about that but it isn’t finished being set up. 😟  Tomorrow we head to Whitefish and should only be 25 miles 🤞🤞🤞

Today's ride: 35 miles (56 km)
Total: 2,958 miles (4,760 km)
