Home also
Made It to the Ballgame
Well I guess if John has a final entry I guess I should have one also.
I got home last Friday after driving from the Quad Cities. My only complaint about the drive is the part through Chicago. For those of you have driven there, Chicago has a lot of toll highways. One of these, I-294, covers about 3 miles of I-80 which I was driving on. The toll section in this area is either Ezpass or Pay-by-plate…..no cash payments allowed. Well I’m in a rental with no Ezpass. When I get to Indiana, I had to set up an account with the Illinois tollway to pay. Whether or not I’ll be billed or Enterprise, I don’t know….we’ll see.
Finally started unpacking today. On the ride a few items in the front pannier were wet. I found a small hole in one front pannier and a small slit in the other. Need to fix before next year so got to do now or I’ll end up doing it just before the tour.
John gave all the mileage and overnight stats….personally I enjoyed not camping as much. You don’t have to worry about the killer gnats or mosquitoes; or hiding your food from prowling animals (or John 😀).
I will be giving my Stratus XP a rest on Will to Ben and riding my other recumbent, the P-38. It will need some shifting adjustments and other minor work before October.
John and I haven’t discussed when we will tour next year but I’ve been told it will not be spring when yard work is needed, or in the first 2 weeks of May. I missed my last 2 wedding anniversaries so that cannot happen a 3rd time.
My gear list will most likely be the same next year, maybe less cooler weather clothes depending on when we do it.
I got home in time on Friday to go to my granddaughters 1st softball game of the season. She will be going into the 5th grade next year so it is fun to watch. I missed all her game and all my grandsons baseball games last year.
As always, until we meet again, happy biking!🚴♂️
