To the Ibis at Frankfurt Airport
It was a long night but we did get a bit of sleep. Emirates really is a great airline to fly and the noise cancelling headphones we had bought ourselves sure helped. It is fun following all the directions at Dubai airport up and down escalators, into trains, in lifts and past huge areas of exotic looking duty free ( Ken resisted the temptation to buy me lots of gold! )sure is very disorientating. Now we just wait in the gate lounge for our final six and a half hours to Frankfurt and hoping the baggage handlers are kind to the bikes when they transfer them to this next flight.
We were glad to get off the plane at Frankfurt and everything arrived safely. Frankfurt Airport is a great place to put bikes together. There is lots of space in baggage claim which is very secluded so Ken went to work - putting bikes together after such a flight is somewhat challenging but we made it, loaded up and off we went in search of the Ibis. Steve Miller had kindly sent us a map showing how to do it but it still wasnt easy, the temperature was 35 degrees, there was a head wind and part of the path had been dug up and was really loose gravel. Must say I was very pleased to arrive at the hotel. Ken went to the nearby supermarket and got some salads for a meal, I think we will just flop out then and probably sleep like logs till about 3am
