Niyogodawa to Kuma Kougen: Through lovely steep valleys
After breakfast at the Lawson’s and last use of the bus terminal’s toilets, we set off up the climb towards Kuma Kougen which is about four hundred meters higher than Niyogodawa. But the route so beautiful that the climb hardly mattered. We stopped often to catch our breath and enjoy the views.

A long stop at the Michi no Eki in Kuma. Then we will be off to find a campsite for the night. Tomorrow we have another long climb tomorrow before descending to Matsuyama.
After hanging around at the Michi no Eki, I thought it was time we checked into a guesthouse again - we've slept rough(-ish) for the last four nights and we could do with a good shower and there are some clothes that need to be washed. So we asked the helpful folk at the information desk of the Michi no Eki they they arranged a room at a hotel down the road - the Garden Time Hotel at 8000 JPY for the two of us.
Laundry is currently in the washing machine and we hope to hit a Ramen Noodle joint for supper.
Today's ride: 49 km (30 miles)
Total: 649 km (403 miles)
