Nakhon Pathom to Bangkok: Braving the manic ride into Thailand's biggest city.
We had ridden into Bangkok from Suvarnarbhumi Airport last year but that was a pretty short ride into the main railway station on busy urban roads. Today's ride was longer and an a variety of roads from seven lane highways to concrete country lanes. It was never going to be pleasant but it was also not as bad an we imagined except for a really crappy section on the route 337/338 where we had to dodge through a turnpike that routed traffic on and off the elevated highway above the route we were on.
We headed for the ferry port near the start of the railway line to Kanchanaburi which is on the west bank of the Chao Praya River opposite Phra Athit Road which is where the New Siam 2 Guesthouse is located. It is an area we know reasonably well because this is where we have stayed every time we have been in Bangkok. The New Siam is almost a home from home for us - this is our fourth stray at the establishment.
Today's ride: 57 km (35 miles)
Total: 5,301 km (3,292 miles)
