Ha-ri ti Chungju: A most enjoyable ride
We were on the road at about six o'clock.
After four kilometers the first of the two climbs started. Like most of today's ride, it was on public roads but there was almost no traffic at all. The climb was through a lovely wood hillside and we stopped often to bird, picking up Yellow-throated Bunting, one of the more attractive of a largely plain group of birds, along the way.

The road then dropped down before another shorter climb. Both of these climbs were around 7% on average and made for enjoyable cycling.
Outside of Suanbo we passed this rock carving of two Buddhas.
Apart from around Suanbo, there was almost no traffic and with the route being mostly on public roads it felt like we were cycle-touring again and not just sticking to a sterile cycle track. Definitely a highlight of our stay in South Korea so far.
We stopped at a cafeteria near the Cgungdo Wrld Martial Arts Museum and had a big lunch before checking into a rather down-at-heel motel a few kilometers on.
Today's ride: 60 km (37 miles)
Total: 1,968 km (1,222 miles)
