Chau Doc to Long Xuyen: Easy riding through the markets and down the river
After breakfast at the hotel we headed down to the riverfront to make our way to Long Xuyen. Fisrt of all we had to negotiate the market, one of a few we cycled through today. After that it was easy riding all the way to Long Xuyen. The route was flat, the sky was cloudy and the wind was coming over our right shoulders so it was a really effortless ride.
The road is pretty much built up the whole way from Chau Doc to Long Xuyen and of course, the Vietnamese traffic only operates with all hooters blaring.

My sniffles were stil very much with me and all I wanted to do was to find a hotel where I could put my feet up for the rest of the day. I had read that Long Xuyen has nothing going for it and that decent accommodation is hard to find. We located the Mai Van Ahn Hotel on the western side of town. Far away from the main road, it is nice and quiet and a good deal at 350,000 VND.
