Cần Thơ to Vĩnh Long: An easy ride northwards
After four days rest in Cần Thơ we were fully rested and eager to be back on the bicycles. We filled up at breakfast and were on the road before seven thirty. As we left Can Tho we crossed the magnificent 2.75 kilometres long cable-stayed bridge over the Hậu River.

Despite a fresh headwind, we had a very easy ride up to Vĩnh Long. We made a couple of stops for refreshments at ca fe vongs along the way, taking our time because we didn't have far to go.
Later in the afternoon we strolled across to the War Museum. It seemed all closed up despite being only four o'clock in the afternoon. We spent a bit of time looking at the exhibits of American equipment outside which included a tank, an APC, a helicopter, two jet fighters and a guillotine ! The guillotine was used by the very unpopular Diem government of South Vietnam (before he was ousted in a coup) to despatch opponents to the regime.
Today's ride: 42 km (26 miles)
Total: 7,248 km (4,501 miles)
