Ben Tre to Mỹ Tho: Country roads and friendly folk
We had a late start today because we were only going as far as Mỹ Tho. We left at about nine o'clock and, after the usual breakfast of bánh mì, we found a nice quiet back road that took us through villages far from the busy route 60. A long stop at a cà fê vòng was followed by one of the pleasant stretches of Vietnamese countryside we have had. It is usually just school children who call out friendly "hellos" but today we also had lots of adults joining in.

Just before we crossed the Mekhong for the last time, we joined route 60 and road over the last of the enormous bridges.
We took a little while to find The World Hotel which is down a little alleyway. It was worth it. For the same price as our smelly mouldy room as last night we got a newly renovated sparkling clean room with a lovely view over the city.
Today's ride: 30 km (19 miles)
Total: 7,400 km (4,595 miles)
