Figueras to Montero

Turning South

50 degrees at 8:00 am. Wind from the north. Decided to let it warm up a bit before taking off. Beautiful sunny day. Temps in mid 50s to high 60s during ride time. A few recreational and touring cyclists were on the road. We took N-643 the whole way. It turned south about halfway into the ride.

An example of one of the hotel’s tile floors. Our room had wood floors.

Another example. They have borders and are like shaped like rugs.

Rest stop at a bar in Galatia after a long climb. We left Asturias when we crossed the bridge.

Some observation about Google maps in Spain. 1. Do not rely on their train time tables! 2. Restaurants that say open may not be. 3. If you are biking, google wants to keep putting you on the Camino route- note even in places that are clearly single file for walkers, or up a steep muddy bank, or on unpaved streets.  Usually, a steep curvy hard climb is involved only to rejoin the flatter route you just left. If you want to ride the Camino Norte, rent a mountain bike.

Today's ride: 26 miles (42 km)
Total: 131 miles (211 km)
