Onward to Lake Garda

The final leg of our second bike tour

Today is the last day of our Innsbruck to Lake Garda bike tour. We have passed through the Dolomites, seen more apple orchards than we knew existed, seen flat emerald green valley floors that gave way to rolling valleys lined with vineyards, finally found a town,Trento, that feels and looks like an Italian town, and today we reach our destination, Lake Garda.

Off we go getting ready to start the last leg of this tour

Leading out of Trento we had a nice tree lined path

The river Adige was our constant companion for the first 20 miles

She does not like that darn bike! It’s just to darn big and bulky to handle easily. Giving it a swift kick might help it behave!

We met a farmer brining grapes in from harvesting and adding to what had already been picked.

Turned a corner and found this steep narrow uphill facing us. Unfortunately in the pictures it doesn’t look either steep or narrow, but trust me it was!

Hmmmm doesn’t look steep or narrow here either…. It was!

Very narrow bridge at the top, only room for one bike at a time

As we got closer and closer to lake Garda the mountains began getting higher and higher.

We climbed up over a pass and started down. At one point we came around a corner and this was the view laid out before us! It was gorgeous.

Do you see the white dots out on the lake at the base of the mountain? Those white dots are sailboats, hundreds of sailboats racing.

Some of the mountains are really unique in their lumpy texture.

We parked our bikes for the last time and said goodbye. In a few days we will be off on a different adventure with a different set of bikes.

After checking in to our hotel we headed to the beach to enjoy the park and the water. The water was chilly I’m guessing it was maybe mid 70’s but it felt good after a day on the bike.

There were lots of people out enjoying the water. We heard a mix of languages, mostly Italian and German.
