Luxembourg - for about a minute
Todays highlights included an exploration of Trier’s old city, a quick trip into Luxemburg, a philosophy garden, and the old town of Saarburg. This morning it was bright and sunny when we headed into trier and it’s old city but the clouds rolled in quickly. All day it looked like we were going to get rained on any minute but we only had a few sprinkles.
The Porta Nigra is huge and imposing and feels very Roman as you walk through it.

The Trier Dom Cathedral of St. Peter is not only Germany’s oldest church but also, in its 1700 years of history, the oldest structure in Germany which has served uninterruptedly – and continues to serve – its original purpose as bishop’s church.
The Liebfrauenkirche, located next to the cathedral, is one of the most impressive Gothic buildings in Germany. At the same time, it is considered to be their earliest representative on German soil.

Trier’s royal palace and gardens were beautiful.
The Kaiserthermen, the Trier Imperial Baths, are a large Roman bath complex in Trier, Germany. The complex was constructed in the early 4th century AD, during the reign of Constantine I. During that time, Trier was a major imperial hub, being a primary residence for Constantine's son Crispus.

Around the old town section of Trier
We rode along the Mosel to the Saar then crossed a bridge into Luxemburg. We were in Luxemburg for all of 5 minutes loading onto the ferry to take us back to Germany. The ferry was small, it carried two cars and us with our bikes.
